Pack Meetings

All of the Dens and their families come together,
typically on the 2nd Thursday of each month during the school year, for a Pack Meeting.
These meetings recognize the accomplishments of each of the Scouts, allows the Scouts
and their families to share their experiences, and bond as a unit and they are always fun!

Each Pack Meeting has a theme that focuses on one of the core values of Scouting.
For 2012-2013 we will follow this format

Compassion --April 2012
Courage  --May 2012
Cooperation--June 2012
Resourcefulness --July 2012
Responsibility--August
Respect --September 2012
Health and Fitness--October 2012
Citizenship--November 2012
Faith--December 2012
Perseverance--January 2013
Positive Attitude--February 2013
Honesty --March 2013

During a typical Pack Meeting, Scouts will conduct the Opening and Closing Flag Ceremonies,
be recognized for their achievements since the last Pack Meeting and participate in one or more activities, ranging from a game to learning something new from a guest speaker.

Dens and Den Meetings

Cub Scout Dens are the heart of the Cub Scout Pack.

Dens are formed from Scouts of a similar age group and will progress through the Scouting Program together.  Here, friends will be made and characters developed as the Den completes each of the trails of achievements for their ranks.

Dens will meet a couple of times a month on a schedule established by the families that make up the Den.

Starting on June 1st of each year, Dens will embark on the trail for their age group.
The Tiger Cub trail is for 1st graders or boys that are 7 years of age as of June 1st
The Wolf Cub trail is for 2nd graders or boys that are 8 years of age
The Bear Cub trail is for 3rd graders or boys that are 9 years of age
The Webelos I trail is for 4th graders or boys that are 10 years of age
The Webelos II trail is for 5th graders or boys that are 11 years of age

After Webelos, Cub Scouts graduate on to Boy Scouts in which they will be a part of a Troop
which will continue on the exciting adventure that is Scouting.  Boy Scout Troop 473 is a natural next steps for boys graduating from Cub Scouts in our Pack.

Summer Activities

Scouting doesn't stop at the end of each school year.  Summer-time provides the perfect opportunity to get out and have fun...and for new members! Check out the Welcome Activities page for ways that you can come check out Cub Scouting with Pack 473.

Service Projects

Service projects provide our Scouts and their families the opportunity to help out in the community.
We have a conservation project for April 2013 and the Dens often do projects in smaller groups.

Fund Raising

Cub Scouts is a non-profit organization.  To try an minimize the out-of-pocket expense of the families that make up our Pack, we conduct fund raisers each year to try and cover the cost of the activities that we provide.

Each year we sell popcorn at local business establishments that support scouting.  Each boy signs up for a 1.5 hour shift on one Saturday.  There are additional prizes for those boys/families who choose to sell popcorn in addition to this shift.

The goal each year is to raise enough money to cover the Pack's budget for that year.
The Pack would like to be able to cover everything from the annual registration costs to paying for each Scouts way into the camping and other activities provided.
